Post-op reflections from Yours Truly
Well folks, I made it to 60 a couple of weeks ago. That's 28
Male years, 2 transition years and 30 very Female years. I'm
more Female today than ever mentally and physically. I still
have my ups and downs as every one does but I've loved every
minute of life since being accepted as a real Female which I
have become (and am still becoming physically). Here's what
I'm doing now after all those years along the road of life.
Although I've been reasonably happy with my surgery and
related Male to Female hormone therapy, I recently joined the
new fangled Internet/World Wide Web with my computer and was
amazed at just what one can find out while surfing the net.
For instance, although I don't dwell on the re-assignment
issues as I did 30 years ago, I'm still interested in keeping
up with what's going on in regards to SRS patients etc. I did
a search and found out what the medications being given in
the 90's are compared to the 60's while I was in transition.
There's not much you can't find out by surfing the Web.
For instance, there is information on the dosages of hormones
one should take during pre-op times and their names. When I
went through all this, the specialist that treated me post-op
never gave me Progesterone (Provera) or even mentioned it.
My Estinyl (Estrogen) dosage was miniscule in comparison to
what a pre-op TS is exposed to now. I've taken a .05 mg
Estinyl tablet daily all these years. That's the normal
Female replacement therapy dosage for a real Female that went
through a normal puberty and has already developed her own
breast, nipples, a smoother more translucent skin and all the
other desirable things that make a Female a Female.
Well folks, that's OK for all of the pretty Females that were
Feminized VIA their own hormones at puberty. I really thought
the estrogen was doing a good job on me until just recently.
What I took was better than not having any treatment but
believe it or not, at this late date, I'm going through
puberty again but this time I can really see it physically
and the nipple sensations and other sexual feelings are so
far ahead of where I was, it's hard to believe. I'm not gonna
cry over spilt milk but I really do wish I could have had the
intensive hormone therapy in the 60's like I've been on now
for since July 1997. Wowee, I can see a tremendous difference
in my skin texture, breast size and especially the nipple and
aerola area. I can also see now how come a Nympho type Female
probably feels like having sex with any and every one. Whew.
These changes were brought on by a dosage of medications
which are about 30 times the amount I was ever on. Granted,
it may not be a safe route for me to take at this late date
but what is really safe these days? Just driving a car to the
corner 7-11 is loaded with risks as many other things are
now. If my treatment causes my death (God forbid), then so be
it. At least I will die happy knowing my body and mind are
even more Feminine than ever before from the medications I've
been taking. I've gained a full cup size in the past couple
of months and my nipples now look like they are as ready for
a newborn baby to suckle milk from as a new mother's are. It
appears that I'm still gaining more new breast material and
it's not just fat either. I'm sure there will be a time
probably within the next year or so that I will need to taper
back to the same dosage I took for the past 30 years. Until
then, I'll pay very close attention to how this medication
makes me feel and get a blood work up every 3 or 4 months
from a Doctor who knows what I'm doing. At one time, I
thought 60 was very old but now folks, it's puberty time
again and I'm loving every Female minute of it. Grin . . .
To sum up the differences from then to now . . .
Progesterone, (That's Provera) Two 10mg tablets which I cut
in half and take 1/2 tablet 4 times daily. The Estrogen
tablets (That's Estinly .5 mg) which I also cut in half and
take with the Provera at the same time. Another medication
named Spironolactone (which originally was a blood pressure
medication) but has been proved to be a terrific Testosterone
Blocker. This should do as well as cutting off your Testicles
with a knife to reduce Testosterone from all I've read. The
combination of these hormones is really quite Feminizing over
a period of time, (2 or 3 years) and very similar to puberty
a young Female experiences, especially if the Pre-op male
takes the Testosterone blocker with the hormones.
To me, the important thing to do is NOT take a mega dose of
female hormones for to long a time. Simply use them as a tool
to achieve the necessary results desired. You must remember,
the younger you are when you start these hormones, the better
the results will be. Like I said, if I could have had my way,
I would have been taking them from the earliest age possible
but that's water under the bridge. Although the female breast
may sag in time and shrink slightly as you age, a very small
dosage of Estrogen/Progesterone will defiantly keep you in a
non-masculine state. Once developed, a breast may be compared
to a guys penis. Once you got a penis, it's always gonna be
there. The same goes for breast tissue. It takes from several
months to several (2-3) years to fully develop your Feminine
body but once its developed, ohhh baby, it's yours for life.
You should be able to tell when its time to lower the dose.
Now you can see, this Sex Re-assignment stuff for me has been
an on going process even though I'm a 30 year post-op 60 year
old female. People, only God knows how much I love being a
Female. I'll steal Dolly Partons line. I once heard her say
on T.V., "Honey, I love being a girl so much that if I had
been born a guy, I would have been a drag queen. I simply
love every thing associated with being a Female, everything."
Well folks, yours truly couldn't have said it any better.
That fits me to a tee. Do I have any regrets now that I'm an
old 60 year old antique? What do you think? Grin . . .
For the Male to Female TS who is going to do hormone therapy
no matter what, PLEASE, be very careful. These are Steroid
type hormones. Don't over do it. I'm sure you all have heard
of the problems male steroids can cause. Female hormones
carry risks too, stroke, cancer, blood clots etc but they're
probably not as risky as the Testosterone mega doses a guy
takes to become Charles Atlas. See a Doctor and BE CAREFUL!
